About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: When foraging, the Tunisian desert ant Cataglyphis fortis calculates its relative position to the nest via path integration. Due to its egocentric nature, path integration is error-prone. In order to avoid accumulating errors during consecutive foraging trips, Cataglyphis uses each stop in the nest to reset the path integrator to 'nest state' (see article by M. Knaden and R. Wehner, pp. 26-31). Photo by M. Knaden. Digital finishing by Susanne Reimann.
