About the Cover
Cover:
The photo shows light transmitted through the head of the Central American xantusiid lizard Lepidophyma flavimaculatum via contralateral tympanum and middle ear cavity and illustrates the optical as well as acoustical transparency of the interaural pathway in lizards. The acoustical transparency is the basis of the strong directionality reported in the paper by J. Christensen-Dalsgaard and G. A. Manley, pp. 1209-1217. Photo courtesy of G. A. Manley, M. Gebhardt and M. Obermeier.
