About the Cover
A honey bee (Apis mellifera) foraging for pollen from a peach tree blossom (Rosaceae). Honey bee behavioral maturation - from working in the hive to foraging - forms the basis for the colony's intricate system of division of labor. Ben-Shahar, Dudek and Robinson (pp._3281-3288) show that changes in brain manganese levels and the expression of the gene encoding its transporter malvolio are associated with this form of behavioral plasticity.
