About the Cover
Cover:
In situ hybridization was used to characterize the temporal and spatial expression patterns of seven muscle-specific protein (MSP) mRNAs in Atlantic cod embryos reared at 4, 7 and 10¡C (see Hall, Cole and Johnston, pp. 3187-3200). Transcripts of MyoD,
-actin, myosin heavy chain (MyHC), troponin T (TnT), troponin I (TnI), muscle creatine kinase (CK-M) and troponin C (TnC) were activated sequentially in a distinct temporal order, consistent with the notion of muscle development as a set of centrally regulated, concomitant but autonomous steps. Photographs are of embryos reared at 4¡C.
