About the Cover
Cover:
The picture shows an Anolis lizard (Anolis valencienni) during take-off from a force plate. Using the force plate, Toro, Herrel, Vanhooydonck and Irschick quantified the dynamics of jumping in Anolis lizards of different sizes and for ontogenetic size series of three species (see pp. 2641-2652). Although Anolis lizards generally grow geometrically, the scaling of jumping dynamics deviates considerably from the predictions of geometric scaling models. Similarly, whereas the evolution of body and limb proportions in larger species is well predicted by scaling models, the dynamics of jumping do not appear to evolve in accordance to model predictions.
