About the Cover
Cover: This striking cover art for this special issue of The Journal of Experimental Biology was created by the very talented Harald Kryvi, Professor of Zoology at the University of Bergen, Norway. The image, entitled 'Radiating Retina', is a print made from a copper etching. It is an artistic rendering of the vertebrate retina, specifically the cells and cell layers involved in the transduction of visual signals. Commissioned for the Second Workshop on Ultraviolet and Polarization Vision, it will be immediately identifiable to vision scientists.
