Fig. 8. Tagged magnetization to assess local tissue deformation. Saturated
longitudinal magnetization is applied in two orthogonal directions, which from
the sagittal planar perspective (shown here) appears as a rectilinear grid of
dark bands amidst the relative brightness of the rest of the MR image. Strain
is determined in image post-processing by measuring the amount of deformation
undergone by these bands of magnetization during the course of tissue
motion.
