Prevention of NO formation by L-NAME (3x10–4 mol l–1, N=7) increased the mean force exerted by the preparations. Subsequent addition of SNP (10–5 mol l–1, N=5) decreased the L-NAME induced activity to 71.2±27.0% of the control. Results are presented as force developed (mean ± s.e.m.). *P<0.05.
