fo of isolated wings. A dissected segment of file (or
scraper) was mounted on a probe held in a micromanipulator. This was used to
simulated single file-tooth impacts and generate free vibration in the wing.
Wing vibration was measured directly using a laser vibrometer and radiated
sound was recorded using a probe microphone.
