S2 cells were co-transfected with the A. stephensi leucokinin receptor ORF and apoaequorin ORF constructs, and expression induced. Peptide-stimulated [Ca2+]i increases were measured in S2 cell aequorin-based assays, at different concentrations of peptide as indicated. Values were expressed as maximal [Ca2+]–background [Ca2+] (nmol l–1; mean ± S.E.M., N=5–8). Where error bars are not visible they are too small to reproduce.
