Fig. 1. Apparatus for measuring free flight trajectories. Stereo video cameras film the flies as they explore a cylindrical arena. Infrared (IR) illumination was used to avoid interference with the fly’s vision. A combination of on-line and post processing generated a three-dimensional flight trajectory.
