The ants (N=22) were released within a test area devoid of landmarks, and their trajectories were recorded for 5 min each. The first intersections (filled circles) of their trajectories with concentric circles (radii 1, 2, 3 and 4 m) centred on the point of release ({square}) do not show any directional preference (P>0.2 for all circles, Rayleigh test).
