The measurements were carried out in 0.1moll-1 Hepes buffer (pH7.3) at a monomeric haemoglobin concentration of 0.16mmoll-1. [oxyHb]t and [oxyHb]0 are the concentrations of oxyHb at times t and zero, respectively.
