Fig. 1. Examples of the time-dependence of the autoxidation reaction for hagfish (Myxine glutinosa) and carp (Cyprinus carpio) oxyhaemoglobin (oxyHb) at various temperatures. The measurements were carried out in 0.1moll-1 Hepes buffer (pH7.3) at a monomeric haemoglobin concentration of 0.16mmoll-1. [oxyHb]t and [oxyHb]0 are the concentrations of oxyHb at times t and zero, respectively.
