Fig. 2. Blood volume depletion in river lampreys acclimated to Kerteminde seawater at 576 mOsm kg^–1 (21 p.p.t.). The first blood sample (pre-volume depletion; open bars) was taken to achieve a 40% decrease in blood volume and a second sample (post-volume depletion; hatched bars) was collected after 30 min (N=10), 60 min (N=11) or 90 min (N=7).
